KAPAN (Armenpress)–The governor of Syunik Edik Barseghian paid a visit to the Meghri region Monday to diffuse rumors alleging that the region may be exchanged for Karabakh as an option to solving the decade-long Armenian-Azeri conflict.

The governor once again reiterated the official government position that Meghri is not a subject of negotiations with regards to the Karabakh conflict.

According to governor’s press office–the governor also wanted to get a closer look into the social standing of the region and see how economic development was proceeding in the region.

Barseghian met with people of the towns of Meghri and Agarak and also visited schools and businesses in the area.
