YEREVAN (Armenpress)–There are 1,105 Diasporan-Armenia’s studying in the Armenian high educational institutions: 578 from Georgia–128 from Iran–119 from Syria–113 from Russia–28 from Lebanon–and 24 from the USA.
Armenia’s science and education ministry Diaspora department official Norayr Andreyan said every year about 250 Diasporan-Armenia’s enter the institutes of Armenia. He said that they mostly prefer Armenian–pedagogic and cultural specialization–taking into account the demand for this kind of specialists in the Diasporan communities.
Andreyan added that 355 of the Diasporan-Armenian students study free of charge–while 750 pay for the education.
According to official data–251 Diaspora-Armenian students studied at the Yerevan State University in 2001–232 at Yerevan State Pedagogic Institute–226 at the Medical University–64 at the Armenian State Engineering University and 56 at the Economic University.
