YEREVAN–The Republic of Armenia has issued gold and silver coins with the Republic’s coat of arms on one side and the Cathedral at Holy Etchmiadzin on the other as part of celebrations marking the 1,700th anniversary of the proclamation of Christianity as the state religion of Armenia.
Chairman of Armenia’s commemorative coin department Razmig Markarian and 1,700th celebration committee president Arch. Mesrob Ashjian announced that seven such sets of coins will be introduced. The first in the series was introduced on Dec. 2.
Each coin comes with its own certificate of authenticity that has been numbered between 1 and 1,700.
The boxed coin sets will be available for $200 until April 15–and for $250 after April 15. Coins may be ordered through the Diocese and the Prelacy or by writing to 1,700th Anniversary Commemorative Coins–PO Box 3141–Grand Central Station–New NY–10163. A $5 shipping and handling charge applies.
