ISTANBUL (Marmara)–Sixty-three athletes and 18 trainers and directors from Istanbul–a total of 81 Armenia’s–will be participating in the Pan-Armenian Games to be held in Yerevan from August 28 to September 5. The athletes will compete in soccer–basketball–volleyball–table tennis–chess and other games.
A delegation representing the athletes and coaches met with Patriarch Archbishop Mesrop Mutafyan–who gave his blessings to the group and its participation in the event. An additional 150 people are expected to accompany the athletes as spectators.
An invitation to join the group was sent to former president of the Turkish chess Federation Jirair Ohanian–as well as representatives of various groups and society in Istanbul.
More than 2000 Armenian athletes from 20 countries and 50 cities will be participating in the Games.
