On Sunday October 26, the Homenetmen Massis Chapter members will come face to face with their chapter’s future as the recently completed Jirair & Serpoug Sarkissian Gym will be unveiled for a day of games and celebration! On the occasion, several prizes will be drawn and athletes will have the opportunity to paint their hand print impressions on tiles which will later be applied on a commemorative wall.
The new Homenetmen Massis Center located at 20953 Osborne St, Canoga Park, is the triumphant culmination of over twenty years of effort and hard work by several Massis Executive Committees and numerous volunteers. The first Homenetmen Gym in the San Fernando Valley, the Jirair & Serpoug Sarkissian Gym is a decisive step in Massis Chapter’s efforts of ensuring the future as well as enhancement of its youth programs.
While the gym is complete, fund raising efforts are ongoing to get all 10,000 square feet of the building sponsored. The chapter asks for the support of its generous parents and donors, as funds from the next 1,000 sponsored square feet will cover expenses pertaining to the maintenance and operation of the gym, including padding for the walls, additional baskets, upkeep of the floor and security surveillance system. The chapter is positioning itself to start phase II of the project which entails the construction of a snack bar, lounge area, lobby, conference room and several offices.
All donors and square feet sponsors will be acknowledged on a special “Wall of Sponsors” in the future lobby of the building. Massis chapter is grateful for the tremendous support and response this project has attracted.
