YEREVAN (Armenpress)—Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Edward Nalbandian on Monday met with the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Anne Brasseur, who is on an official visit to Yerevan.
Nalbandian said in his meeting with Brasseur that nearly 150 members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe have joined the statement issued by the Armenian Delegation to the PACE on the occasion of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide.
Nalbandian also discussed Armenia’s and the OSCE Minsk Group’s efforts toward a peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict. In this context, Minister Nalbandian touched upon the PACE’s decision to prepare a report on Karabakh, emphasizing that the PACE must refrain from creating new parallel structures, formats or task forces that might cause harm to the activities of the three Minsk Group. According to the minister, steps that might cause harm to the process of negotiations must not be taken.
During a press conference after the meeting, Brasseur asserted that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must be regulated through dialogue, and that violence is unacceptable. “We are also very concerned about the regulation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Dialogue is the only way that will help find a solution. Violence is unacceptable for us,” Brasseur said.
