YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–President Robert Kocharian met with German representative to OSCE Minsk Group Frank Lambach on Thursday. On behalf of the German government–Lambach expressed his gratitude to Armenia for returning to Germany its cultural treasures which were stored in Armenia by the Russia’s.
Kocharian and Lambach discussed Armenia’s new stand on the Karabakh settlement process and Lambach’s stand on issues. Both officials stressed the need to restart the negotiations process. Also–they emphasized the need to maintain the existing cease fire and reintroduce guarantees for peace and security.
Earlier in the week–Lambach arrived in Karabakh for a two day visit on Tuesday.
As reported by the Karabakh Foreign Ministry–the same day Lambach met with Vasily Atajanian–Deputy Foreign Minister of Karabakh. The sides addressed issues regarding the Karabakh settlement process in light of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen’s recent visit to the region.
On Wednesday–Lambach was received by Parliament Speaker Oleg Yesayan. The two shared opinions on the reasons of the current empasse in the talks and the search for ways to advance the negotiating process.
Also on Wednesday–Lambach met with Defense Minister Samvel Babayan. They discussed a wide range of issues regarding security safeguards for Karabakh and the entire region.
