STEPANAKERT (Noyan Tapan)–A republic-wide conference was held at the National Assembly of Karabakh Tuesday in preparation for the upcoming local elections scheduled for September 27.
In addressing the conference–Nagorno-Karabakh Republic President Arkady Ghoukassian stressed that the September elections must show the world that Nagorno Karabakh is able to hold fair and democratic elections.
He added that the country’s further social and economic development–which included such vital problems as land privatization–largely depended on the manner in which the election process is managed
The president criticized the heads of regional administrations for their failure to keep those in the rural areas aware of political developmen’s in the country–urging proper measures by government to bring about badly needed economic reforms.
Ghoukassian also assured that the government would take steps to settle all extenuating problems and prevent any kind of pressure on voters.
