YEREVAN (Yerkir)–Thursday marked the anniversary of the adoption of Armenia’s Constitution. President Robert Kocharian issued a statement congratulating Armenia’s and emphasizing the importance of the law of the land. Below is his message:
Dear compatriots,
I congratulate you on Constitution Day. The Constitution is of pivotal importance for any state. It presets the path of development of a country. The Constitution of the Republic of Armenia is a firm basis for the reinforcement and stable development of democracy in our country.
The Constitution of the Republic of Armenia guarantees the fundamentals rights and freedoms of citizens. It ensures balanced distribution of power between the branches of Government and their productive cooperation, provides reliable guarantees of strengthening of local self-governance.
Once again I congratulate you and wish that the Main Law of the Republic of Armenia’serve for the sake of stability of our country and the wellbeing of people."
