GLENDALE–Glendale Healthy Kids (GHK) marks 15 years of dedicated service to community youth this year, renewing its dedication to ensuring local children of low-income households gain access to health care and preventative health education.
A community benefit organization established in 1994, GHK continues to affect the lives of children on a daily basis through its network of providers who volunteer their time to treat medical, dental and mental health problems of children unable to afford regular healthcare.
“We are so fortunate to have a core of volunteer healthcare providers who are willing to take a child in need, care for them at no cost to the family, and make sure they are healthy and best able to succeed in life,” said Glendale Healthy Kids President Brian Bergh DDS, MS.
The organization’s brochure “Facts for Families” printed in English, Spanish, Armenian and Korean, lists the free services i.e., medical care, mental health care, dental care, vision services, prescriptions, x-rays, and physical therapy, as well as free health education classes for parents available in the same four languages.
A special brochure titled “Nutrition ‘s Tips for Parents” is also available in Armenian, as well as Spanish, English and Korean.
Every month, the GHK also holds a continental breakfast for community members to be acquainted with the organization and its services and resources. Last month’s breakfast, held on December 12, was hosted by Citiview Auto Financing.
The Christmas Season also saw a successful Holiday Open House at the home of Glendale City Councilman Bob Yousefian and his wife Sue Eller, benefiting Glendale Healthy Kids.
“I am very proud to participate in this non-profit program serving low income and uninsured students,” commented GHK board member Edward Lafian. “Every child deserves healthcare and a healthy future. We are grateful to generous friends who are helping us make a difference.”
