GLENDALE (4:34PM)–Speaking at a press conference at the Glendale Hilton on Friday, US Ambassador to Armenia Marrie L. Yovanovitch dodged the Armenian Genocide issue, deferring to President Obama’s April 24 statement as US policy. In response to questions from Asbarez English editor Ara Khachatourian, Yovanovitch said the President’s statement, which avoided the word Genocide, is US Policy.
The Ambassador will participate in a community forum tonight at “Avedissian” Hall of Ferrahian School (5300 White Oak Ave., Encino). During the forum, which is open to the public, Yovanovitch will address the community, followed by a question and answer session.
Asbarez will provide more coverage as the news unfolds.
Why have former G-word users, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton and Samantha Power remained shamefully silent, remote, and unremorseful in the aftermath of Obama’s refusing to use the G-word in Turkey and elsewhere?
Why have Armenian-Americans not demanded and held a meeting with top White House and/or State Department officials?
Why did Armenian-American organizations instead agree to receive Ambassador Yovanovitch into their communities — to be subjected to revisionism and lies?
Why was the US Senate “hold” on Yovanovitch’s appointment removed, even though she did not forthrightly acknowledge the Armenian Genocide?
