May 1, 1970 was a milestone in Asbarez history. On that day the Asbarez English Section was launched as a new edition to the then 62-year-old publication, which had just moved its operations to Los Angeles from Fresno. Today, as we mark the 40th anniversary of the English Section, Asbarez has grown from its humble beginnings to become the largest Armenian/English bilingual daily newspaper in the United States.
To celebrate this milestone, we have initiated a community-engagement campaign called 40 FOR 40. We ask you, a member of our community, to donate a symbolic $40 to Asbarez on this occasion.
The funds generated from this campaign will greatly enhance our publication and will allow us to bring you more up-to-the-minute news, information and perspective on important national issues that impact our lives daily. It will also bolster our operations in our new media center in Little Armenia.
Please help us reach our goal by making a tax-deductible donation now. Also, spread the word and your families, relatives, and circle of friends to take part in this historic event and become part of the celebration that also marks the growth and determination of the Armenian-American community.
Your support and encouragement will truly make this momentous occasion not only memorable, but will allow Asbarez to further its mission of serving the Armenian-American community as it begins its second century of existence.
We thank you in advance for your generosity and support.
Sincerely,
Asbarez
