GLENDALE—The Committee for Armenian Student in Public Schools held its inaugural Teacher Appreciation Event on Thursday, April 14 at the offices of the Western Prelacy in La Crescenta. More than 40 Glendale Unified School District teachers and administrators of Armenian descent attended the after school reception which was geared to promote the mission and activities of CASPS and to assess the needs of local educators in their efforts to serve our students and community.
Board member and event co-chair Annette Zarian welcomed the teachers and thanked them for their hard work and dedication. CASPS Executive Director Arsineh H. Hovannisian then gave a short overview of CASPS, its 17-year history and its current activities. Later, teachers were invited to share their thoughts on their respective careers. At the end of the successful event, CASPS with the help of event committee members Armineh Keshishian, Armine Khanbabian, Flora Abkarian, Geghanoush Bairamian, Angie Mathevosian and Annette Zarian presented each participant with beautiful posters of Armenian riddles and Alphabet art as well as a framed CASPS logo with an inspirational message. CASPS hopes to continue the dialogue with these teachers and provide any needed assistance.
