STEPANAKERT—Nagorno-Karabakh Republic President Bako Sahakian sent a letter congratulating the new president-elect of Abkhazia Alexander Ankvab, the presidential press office reported Monday.
“On behalf of the authorities, people of the Nagorno Karabagh Republic and myself I cordially congratulate you on the decisive victory gained in the presidential elections and being elected the President of the Republic of Abkhazia,” said Sahakian in his letter.
“I am confident that your rich experience as a state and political figure, knowledge and personal qualities will have an important impact on the stable development of Abkhazia, further strengthening its independent statehood,” added the letter.
“I hope that during your presidency, relations between our countries will not only maintain the gained positive dynamic, but also come to a qualitatively new level. I congratulate you once again on being elected to this high and responsible post. I wish you good luck and successes in all your undertakings directed to the prosperity of fraternal Abkhazia,” concluded Sahakian.

Congradulations indeed! The natives of Abkazia and Osetia after trying to live an equal integrative life as part of greater Georgia found success only as an independant entity. Amazingly enough, if more humility and tolerance were shown by the Georgian officials, no to mention geopoltical loyalty toward those neighbor states that simply are not trying to buy their loyalty with oil money, then perhaps today Georgia’s territorial integrity would still be intact as well as its demographic cohesion.
