TORRANCE–Andrew, 6, Nicholas, 12, and Gabriel, 17, Badakhasian along with their cousins James, 7, and Isabelle, 10, De Arman and Ryan Boujikian, 15, heeded the Armenian National Committee of America’s call to take part in "Cans for the Cause."
On January 18, they left empty paper bags with a letter and instructions attached to it on the front steps of their neighbors, friends and family urging them to fill the bags with non-perishable food items. They returned the next day–Martin Luther King Day and President Obama’s National Day of Service–to collect the cans.
The families around Torrance were more than happy to take part in this venture and the young activists, all grandchildren of long-time ANCA leader and benefactor Manas Boujikian, collected more than 500 "cans for the cause," which surpassed their expectations.
The cans will be distributed to designated food banks.
