LOS ANGELES–Arpa Foundation for Film, Music, and Art will present its first ever AFFMA Comedy Show at The World Famous Improv on Sunday, March 22 at 6:30 pm.
Hosted by comic Ara Basil, the show features a stellar line-up of stand-up talents who have appeared on HBO, Comedy Central, and Showtime. They include Maz Jobrani, Angelo Tsarouchas, Sam Tripoli, Noel Elgrably and Sarah Tiana.
AFFMA Founder, Sylvia Minassian shares her singular vision for the event. "For 14 years, AFFMA has supported a spectrum of artists including photographers, writers, filmmakers, painters, dancers and actors. The AFFMA Comedy Show will be our first event to showcase the one-of-a-kind talents of stand-up comics. As with the always wonderful Armenian Comedy Awards and Armenian Bone Marrow Donor Registry’s Annual Comedy Show, we at AFFMA were inspired to support performers working in the often grueling world of stand-up comedy.”
AFFMA Vice-Chairperson, Alex Kalognomos adds, “We are thrilled with the line up of comics recruited by long-standing AFFMA member Ara Basil. We have an ethnically diverse cast, so the night will be full of cultural exchange and laugh-out-loud humor. And in this difficult economic climate, the proceeds raised will not only support laughter, but will also support AFFMA."
AFFMA was founded in 1995 for the purpose of enhancing our community’s cultural environment and supporting artists who bridge the cultural divide.
Ara Basil, also known as “The Baze,” has a roster of credits that include the Axis of Evil Comedy Tour. He says of the joint venture between AFFMA and The Imrpv, “We’ve been planning this for years. Finally the time was right, and the perfect comics were available. These are some of the funniest guys working in the business today. And they are on board to support AFFMA."
