YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)– The eighth session of the National Assembly will start on September 14. The parliamentary committees are considering 122 legislative initiatives–61 of them from the previous session. Taking into account the fact that during the whole previous period the Parliament could adopt 49 laws at best–it was suggested that the committees should present the list of legislative initiatives that they consider urgent. The standing parliamentary committees consider 63 bills urgent out of 122 bills.
A conference called by Parliament Speaker Khosrov Haoruitunian–on Wednesday–discussed jointly with the government the list of urgent bills. The government’s representative–Minster of Justice David Harouitunian suggested that some changes should be made in the list. In particular–the government considers non-urgent the bills " On Charity,"On Protection of Selection Achievemen’s,"On the Armenian Alphabet,"On Academic Degrees and Titles," as well as bills on making amendmen’s in a number of laws.
Instead–the government thinks that bills on making amendmen’s in the laws "On responsibility for Breaching Safety Code in the Energy Sphere–Rules of Using Electric and Heat Energy and Natural Gas and other normative acts,"On Road Tax," the bill "On Military Call-up and Preparations for Military Call-up" as well as the bill on making amendmen’s in the Customs Code–should be put on the agenda.
