YEREVAN (ArmRadio)—Commenting on the results of last Saturday’s meeting with Azeri President Ilham Aliyev, President Sarkisian on Thursday said the it would be possible to reach an agreement on the basic principles of the Karabakh conflict.
“A week ago I would have said there were no results—no positive movement. But after the meeting in Sochi we can say there is certain progress in Azerbaijan’s position,” said Sarkisian during a meeting Armenian community representatives in Riga, Lativia.
“I think it will be possible to reach a certain agreement on the principles of the resolution of the Karabakh conflict in the near future,” said the president, explaining that he was referencing the three basic principles—non-use of force or the threat of force, territorial integrity and self-determination.
“After reaching agreement on these principles it will be possible to enter a new stage of negotiations and discuss the details,” added Sarkisian, noting that the agreement on principles was just the beginning of the talks.
He also discussed the Turkey-Armenian rapprochement process, reiterating Armenia’s position that no preconditions were acceptable. He added that there was no progress, saying “this is the case, where no result is also a result.”
”Everyone is not convinced that we should not be blamed for an absence of relations with Turkey,” said Sarkisian.

It is absurd!!!
Armenian president puts self-determination at the end?
DOES NOT HE SEE THAT “non-use of force or the threat of force” is ignored openly as he speaks?
DOES NOT HE UNDERSTAND THAT “territorial integrity” will be monitored even without Azeris spending a single bit of efforts (which they are unable to disburse)
DOES NOT HE KNOW THAT “self-determination” will share fate of W.Wilson’s good will-dream?
Is he ready to take the load of this “mistake”?

Today, western politicians “believing” in promises of Azeris that peaceful life is possible for Armenians under Azeris rule, are accomplices of unavoidable pogroms and extermination of Armenians.
Do they care? Who after all will remember “insignificant” Armenians (words of Hitler and Ph. Gordon)?
Artsakh is a victor-country. In the war against Azerbaijan, Artsakhians have eliminated an absolute evil of living under the rule of enemy nation.
In Soviet era life, still was possible under the watch of Moscow. But Armenians of Artsakh were leaving the land of their ancestors. Nakhichevan is an example. It happened there faster because ethnic cleansing in Nakhichevan was handled by Aliev father born there and with a support of Turkey. Turkey was “preparing” Armenian-free” territories in the wake of Soviet Union demolition.
As the demolition of Soviet Union of Republics was advancing, the reality of future emerged in the form of pogroms of Armenians in Sumgait, Baku, Kirovabad and elsewhere in Azerbaijan. Artsakh understodd that they took right steps at right moment.
Personally I am sick and tired of DIck and Harry’s quoting what Hitler said about Armenians. WHO CARES WHAT HITLER SAID, as if that gives us credence to what happened.
Play the game…… Everybody play the gaaaaaaame….
This is the only good piece of news I have read on any Armenian news site for a long time. Lets hope the Armenian leadership finds the courage to settle this problem once and for all and give this country a chance at a future!
If its anything similar to the nefarious so called “protocols” he can stick it where the sun don’t shine.
Yegrotevadtz eh!
Hopefully, Serge will share all these ‘points’ openly with the citizenry of Haiastan and, as well, with all the Armenians the world over… children and grand children having suffered the Turkish Genocide of the Armenian nation. We don’t need another Protocols!! Fool me once – hmmm.. BUT FOOL ME TWICE… AHA!!

Armenia doesn’t need Turkey to open its border. Iran is building a pipeline and a freeway to Armenia.
Don’t forget that the volume of trade between Turkey and Iran in the past 5 years has been $8 Billion (!); That’s half of the entire GNP of Armenia (and I am not even talking about mutual investments between Iran and Turkey which have amounted to close to $15 Billion and are set to triple in the next 5 years!).
Not to realize the benefits of open borders and a long lasting peace with Armenia’s neighbours amounts to shooting onesself in the leg – but then again what else is new?
