YEREVAN (Yerkir)–Former advisor to President Robert Kocharian Alexan Harutiunian–was elected the chairman of the Public Television and Radio Board on Wednesday.
President Kocharian had signed a decree On January 7 to appoint Harutiunian and Vartan Kopian of the Justice Council to members of the Public TV and Radio Board. By the same decree–another member of the Board–Ashot Manukian was dismissed from his position.
Alexan Harutiunian is a Yerevan State University graduate. In 1991 he was the director of the Haylur news program. From 1993-1996 Harutiunian worked for the Armenian Embassy in France. He has served as an advisor to President Kocharian since November 1999
Kopian is an economist and attorney who has been working as a member of the Presidential staff since 1998.
