BAKU (Armenpress)–Azeri President Gaidar Aliyev called recent efforts of the CIS with regards to resolution of the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh unsatisfactory. Aliyev made these statemen’s at the Bina airportin Baku Wednesday.
Aliyev continued to state that although many of the resolutions adopted in past CIS summit meetings have not come to pass–he was optimistic this week’s summit in Kishinev "would not become another example" of previous such failures.
Speaking from the Moldavian town where the summit is taking place–Aliyev said representatives spoke of integration and cooperation–and that he felt good about discussing issues out in the open this time around.
However–at an afternoon press conference–Aliyev did state that his country did not agree with the CIS’s timetable established for such integration and cooperation.
"We are opposed to any one nation being in control of this process–and call for all representing nations to have a hand in what goes on."
Aliyev also expressed concern over Russia’s supposed pro-Armenian military and non-military interests in the conflict–stating this was a direct threat to Azerbaijan’s security–and would pose a delay in the peace process.
Aliyev reiterated that until Russia and Armenia were ready to admit the transfer of arms–and to cooperate with Azerbaijan–the peace process would stall.
