BAKU (Armenpress)–Azeri President Heydar Aliyev–who is recovering after undergoing a prostate surgery in a clinic in Cleveland–Ohio–USA–discussed the Karabakh conflict regulation with US Vice-President Dick Cheney in a telephone conversation. The vice-president is said to have stressed Azerbaijan’s military role in the region–which–according to him–conditions the necessity of US to develop cooperation with it.
Dick Cheney reiterated his government’s position over the conflict that the US is for a peaceful resolution. Heydar Aliyev once again praised the positive role of the US in the OSCE Minsk group’s efforts. Aliyev–for his part–said that the soonest regulation of the conflict would open new horizons for military cooperation between the US and Azerbaijan.
