YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Bulgaria’s Ambassador to Armenia Ivan Ivanchev was the guest of the "Unofficial Ambassadors Meetings" series organized upon the initiative of the Writers’ Union of Armenia on March 26.
Writers’ Union Chairman Levon Ananian said meetings between writers–who–in his opinion–are the people’s ambassadors–and real ambassadors are held in order to get acquainted with the two peoples’ life–culture–and specifically–literature.
The Bulgarian ambassador emphasized the centuries-old friendship between the Bulgarian and Armenian people. He said there are more than 40,000 Armenia’s in Bulgaria today.
The ambassador outlined the trends in modern Bulgarian literature and mentioned names of modern writers. According to Ambassador Ivanchev–modern Bulgarian literature is subjected to transformation–which–in his opinion–is typical of societies living in transition.
Levon Ananian mentioned that two years ago–the "Garun" monthly published a piece devoted to Bulgarian literature. He emphasized that this sort of initiative should be maintained. This way–he said–the Armenian and Bulgarian people will get acquainted with each other’s modern literature.
