BURBANK, CA–More than 90 community, government, and organizational-leaders attended the Armenian National Committee of Burbank’s Christmas party Monday, hosted at the Armenian center. Guests included all five of Burbank’s city councilmembers, all five school board members, the City Clerk, as well as representatives for Congressman Adam Schiff and Congressman Brad Sherman and Assembly member Mike Gatto.
“It’s a pleasure and honor to put this annual event together for our community. It is even more wonderful this year to have almost one hundred in attendance on the occasion of Burbank’s hundredth anniversary,” observed Ara Boyadjian, the chairman of the event’s organizing committee.
Nanneh Chehras opened the program by highlighting past accomplishments and outlining future goals, including an effort to participate in Burbank’s Centennial Celebrations. She described past efforts committed to the 2010 Census and plans to establish an annual scholarship at Woodbury University. She also observed that next year, this fifteen year old event would be held in the Burbank ACF’s new Youth Center, currently under construction.
Guests were thanked for their continuous support and were surprised by a City of Burbank birthday cake. Boyadjian, presented the cake, shaped as a “100”, to commemorate Burbank’s centennial.
Overall, the event brought together local supporters, activists, and political leaders to celebrate another successful year of ANC Burbank. Our efforts to improve the City of Burbank would not be possible without the support of those present.
The Armenian National Committee of Burbank advances the social, economic, cultural, and political rights of the area’s Armenian American community and promotes increased Armenian American civic participation at the grassroots and public policy levels.
