LOS ANGELES–The Hollywood–North Hollywood and San Fernando Valley Chapters of the Armenian National Committee (ANC) combined efforts last week to host a reception for Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) Board Member Jeff Horton–who is facing a stiff challenge for his Board seat in the mid-April election.
The event held at Kavar Restaurant in Hollywood–attracted dozens of long-time Horton supporters and well-wishers. Since his election to the LAUSD Board in 1991–Horton has worked closely with the ANC in addressing the needs of Armenian American public school students.
In 1988–Horton–as part of a delegation of LAUSD representatives–traveled to Armenia to assist survivors of the devastating earthquake that resulted in loss of more than 35,000 lives.
ANC Member Onnic Keshishian–who served as the evening’s masters of ceremonies–highlighted Horton’s many impressive achievemen’s during his eight years as an LAUSD Board Member and thanked him for more than decade of service to the Armenian American community.
