State Senator Chuck Poochigian launched the Orange County portion of his campaign for California Attorney General at a kickoff event hosted by Anaheim Mayor Kurt Pringle–along with Garbis and Zov Karamardian at Orange County restaurant Zov’s Bistro. The event was also sponsored by Dr. Garo and Silvie Tertzakian.
A number of dignitaries were present to help garner support for Chuck Poochigian–as were members of the Orange County Armenian National Committee (ANC-OC). Also present were members of the Montebello ANC and a representative from the ANC Western Region Board. Discussions were held between members of the ANC-OC and State Senator Poochigian–State Senator and Senate Republican Leader Dick Ackerman–and Anaheim Mayor Kurt Pringle regarding issues of importance to the Armenian Community and ways in which the Orange County chapter of the ANC would be able to help in the campaign.
City of Downey council member Kirk Cartozian was the emcee for the evening and introduced a number of elected officials from throughout the Southern California area. Anaheim Mayor Kurt Pringle introduced Senator Poochigian to the many supporters who had gathered for the event–commenting repeatedly about the strength of Senator Poochigian’s character–his dedication–and commitment.
In his remarks–Senator Poochigian stressed the importance of the state’s second most powerful person being someone who understands victim’s rights. He pledged to champion the rights of both violent and non-violent crime victims.
Senator Poochigian went on to say that the State of California’s ‘Top Cop’ needs to be someone of conviction with the support and backing of the law enforcement community. Several County Sheriffs have already endorsed Senator Poochigian–who they believe is the right man for the job.
To end the night–Jill Simonian–a contestant to become the next KTLA weatherperson–sang "America the Beautiful."
