GLENDALE–The Armenian National Committee – Political Action Committee announced Thursday its endorsement of California State Assemblymember Jack Scott for the 21st State Senate District seat–covering the communities of Burbank–Glendale–Pasadena–South Pasadena–Altadena–San Marino–Silverlake–La Canada-Flintridge–Los Feliz–Temple City–Toluca Lake–Sun Valley and a portion of the City of Los Angeles.
The ANC-PAC decision to endorse Assemblymember Scott for the 21st Senate seat is based on the candidate’s stated positions on issues of concern to Armenian Americans in the district. The 21st Senate District is home to the largest concentrated Armenian populate in the United States–and Assemblymember Scott has expanded time–effort and resources in reaching out the Armenian American community and responding appropriately to their concerns.
A principled proponent of recognition and affirmation of the Armenian Genocide–Assemblymember Scott has consistently sponsored and supported legislation to commemorate the Armenian Genocide and to educate Californians on the facts of this dark chapter in human history. Just recently Assemblymember Scott was a principal co-author of SB1915–which allows Armenian Genocide victims and their heirs to file suit to claims losses on insurance policies from the Genocide era.
"Jack Scott has during his career as an educator and as a legislator distinguished himself as a leader and a person who understands the communities he serves. As such–he has cultivated relationships with his constituents based on trust and dedicated service–and he has demonstrated in the past and through his positions in this election cycle what that translates into for the Armenian American community," said Artin Manoukian–ANC-PAC member.
