Honorees Highlight Armenia’s Promoting Awareness in Entertainment
LOS ANGELES–The Board of Directors of the Armenian National Committee of America-Western Regional and the Annual Banquet Organizing Committee announced today its plans to hold the traditional Kick-Off Party on Thursday–September 26–at 7:30 in the evening. The event–which is an annual precursor to the ANCA-WR Annual Banquet–will be held at the historic Max Factor Museum in the heart of Hollywood. The ANCA-WR Annual Banquet has–for decades–drawn thousands who are dedicated to the advancement of Armenian issues and the Armenian Cause. This year’s Annual Banquet will be held on October 20–2002 at the new Renaissance Hotel across from the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. The evening’s honorees will include Armenia’s in entertainment who–through their art–have helped raise awareness and gain support for the critical issues facing Armenia’s today. Honorees Grammy nominated System of a Down and critically acclaimed director Atom Egoyan will receive the ANC Freedom Award. Every year–the ANCA-WR Banquet gives community members and public officials the opportunity to celebrate the successes of initiatives undertaken by the ANCA-WR. Attracting hundreds of supporters and activists–the Banquet is also an occasion for these individuals to show their support and appreciation for the collective efforts of the ANCA-WR.
Past recipients of the prestigious Freedom Award have included author/educator Peter Balakian–Dr. J. Michael Hagopian–and The Armenian Genocide Project–along with California Attorney General–Bill Lockyer.
