ANTELIAS–His Holiness Aram I–Catholicos of the Holy See of Cilcia presided over the election of steering committees for the Central Executive and Religious councils of the Catholicosate.
Last week–the Central Religious Council held its first plenary session–at which time its steering committee was elected. Archbishop Zareh Aznavourian was elected chairman while Very Rev. Krikor Chiftjian was elected secretary.
The Religious Council discussed the upcoming activities of the body and compiled a comprehensive program–which was approved by Aram I.
The Catholicos also presided over the first plenary session of the Executive Council–which elected its steering committee. Andre Tabourian was chosen as chairman–while Voskeperan Arzoumanian was elected vice-chair and Tsolag Tutelian was named secretary. The council also drafted its plan of action for the upcoming four years.
Next week–a joint meeting of the Central Executive and Religious councils is scheduled at the Catholicosate–at which time the programs of the councils will be integrated and distribution of activities will take place.
