COPENHAGEN—Armenia has made it through to the final of the Eurovision song contest on Tuesday, as the compeition’s first semi-final round came to an end in Copenhagen. Of the dozens of countries that competed, a handful will be at the big final on Saturday. The finalists include Armenia, Montenegro, Hungary, Russia, Azerbaijan, San Marino, Ukraine, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Iceland.
Joining those in the final round are the five countries that are granted automatic entry into the final around – Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom – and this year’s contest host, Denmark.
Another set of ten finalists will still be chose on May 8. The final round of the competition will take place Saturday, May 10, where one winner will be chosen based on a mixture of popular voting and judges’ decision. Armenia’s Aram MP3 has been named by betting agencies as the most likely winner in this year’s Eurovision.
Good luck to Aram and all other singers from honest countries. Sadly, this is a competition where the result isn’t important, owing to the flawed/fraudulent voting. (In previous years, the neighboring country (nonsensically dubbed “Azerbaijan by Nuri Pasha and Lenin/Stalin) was noticed hiring EU students to vote for their performers.)
