MISSION HILLS, California—The Ararat-Eskijian Museum in joint cooperation with the Armenian Rug Society will present an illustrative discourse “Armenian Church Altar Curtains and Palambores of the Armenian Merchants” on Saturday, August 20, 5pm, at the Ararat-Eskijian Museum/Sheen Chapel 15105 Mission Hills Road, Mission Hills, California 91345.
From India and beyond, early Armenian hand painted religious textiles and Palampores tell the stories of Armenian Princes, Merchants, traders and a general history of Armenian community in India during 17th-18th century. Hand painted and block printed textiles that survived are testament of the community by world renowned textile expert Berdj Achdjian of Gallery Berdj Achdjian, Paris, France.
The event is free and open to the public. It will be in English and will follow with a reception.
