In an announcement issued Tuesday–the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Bureau condemned a Turkish court decision to sentence Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan to death by hanging.
"Despite pressures placed on Turkey by the West–for its own security considerations–the outcome of which–at this juncture cannot be determined–the verdict was not aimed against one individual–but rather it targets the struggle to preserve basic rights for the entire Kurdish nation," said the Bureau announcement.
"It would be foolish to think that such verdicts can end national liberation struggles. On the contrary–history attests that such incidents have provided further impetus for the such causes. By this verdict and its possible execution–Turkey will lose the opportunity to resolve the Kurdish Question through peaceful means," added the Bureau statement.
"As is the case with all oppressed peoples–the Armenian Revolutionary Federation will continue its solidarity with the struggle for national justice by the Kurdish people," concluded the statement.
