LONDON (Yerkir)– ARF Bureau chairman Hrant Markarian–Bureau member Vahan Hovhannisian–and the chairmen of the Ministries of National Security and Internal Affairs–and Defense–made a one-day visit to London on October 29. Accompanied by the Armenian ambassador to the UK–Vahram Abajian–Hovhannisian held a lengthy meting with high-rank officials of the British Foreign Office to discuss Armenian and regional issues.
On that same day–Markarian and Hovhannisian visited Chatom House–the Royal Institute of foreign affairs. There–within the Russian and Eurasian project framework–they introduced ARF’s views on South Caucasus security. About thirty officials representing British Defense and Foreign offices–analytical centers–London-based international NGO’s–universities and embassies took part in the meeting.
After an introductory speech–Markarian and Hovhannisian answered audience questions about the ARF–the internal situation of Armenia and the region. The ARF has conducted similar meetings at analytical and research centers in Moscow and Tehran. The London meeting was the third.
The goal of these meetings is to better inform these centers about the views and works of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation.
In the evening–the ARF Bureau members met with Armenian community representatives at the Navasartian center in London. The event was organized by the Armenian Youth Federation of England. After introductory speech by Sako Seraydarian–Markarian and Hovhannisian introduced ARF’s position on the internal situation in Armenia as well as Artsakh and Javakhk. They also spoke of Genocide recognition–and answered audience questions. Those present expressed a desire to hold such meetings regularly.
