YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–During a press conference Thursday–Davit Lokian the leader of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Parliamentary Caucus stated that the group was busy drafting a national health insurance proposal to be presented in the National Assembly.
Lokian also reported that among other drafts–the bloc was also working on a proposal on the creation of a financial board which would oversee audits–as well as revenue collection and disbursement. In his capacity as chairman of the parliamentary subcommittee on energy resources–Lokian briefed that individuals that possess the knowledge about the energy sphere and have worked in that realm from 1992 to 1995–were currently applying to his subcommittee to provide information to help parliament reform Armenia’s energy establishment. Lokian also discussed the general modus operandi of the National Assembly–stressing that the current legislature is the only one democratically elected by the people. He added that the problems facing the current parliament may be overcome during elections in four years and added that the media have a crucial role in guiding the public in future elections.
