GLENDALE—In light of the Armenia-Turkey protocols, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Western US Central Committee continued to rally the community’s leadership and to convey its opposition to the protocols.
As such, a delegation headed by ARF Bureau member Dr. Viken Hovsepian and including ARF Central Committee Chairman Avedik Izmirlian and member Hovan Tashjian met Monday with Western Primate Archbishop Hovnan Derderian and Diocesan Executive Council chairman Hovsep Ganiman at the Western Diocese in Burbank.
During the meeting, the ARF delegation briefed the Primate on the activities and upcoming events relating to the community-wide effort to address the protocols, and emphasized the importance of creating a strong wave of unity and the need for the participation of all stakeholders in the community.
Primate Derderian commended the collective unity in the community to rally around the issue and presented his suggestions and assessment of the situation.
On the same day, another ARF delegation met with Father Andon Saroyan, the leader of the Armenian Catholic Community. Also present at the meeting were members of the Catholic Church Executive Council.
The Catholic community representatives expressed their solidarity for the activities under way in opposition of the protocols and pledged their support and participation in programs and events.
