During his expected visit to the United States–Azeri president Gaidar Aliyev is not only scheduled to hold meetings with high level US officials–but also participate in forums and meetings with oil lobby firms interested in exploiting Caspian oil.
Aliyev’s visit will also undoubtedly play a significant role in strengthening Azeri-US relations–politically–economically and militarily. Although such developmen’s are the prerogative of the two governmen’s–they will nevertheless severely endanger the security of the Armenian nation. Therefore–the Armenian-American community is extremely alarmed by these developmen’s. Our concerns are due to the fact that Aliyev will link the expected evolution of bilateral relations to the procurement of US sponsorship of Artsakh’s annexation to Azerbaijan.
The oil lobby–along with Azeri-lobby firms are already exercising their political and financial muscle–to create the necessary political atmosphere and thus secure political victories for Aliyev.
To counter such anti-Armenian activities–the Armenian National Committee of America has initiated an extensive mobilization of the grass-roots to inform US governmental officials of the community’s overwhelming opposition to this invitation–and the Armenian Americans’ concerns with this course of actions–especially at such a crucial juncture in the Karabakh negotiations.
To this end–the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Central Committee of Western United States calls on the entire Armenian-American community in the region to actively participate in the campaign and to sensitize the US government about the dangers the Armenian nation is facing.
Moreover–the ARF-Central Committee calls upon all Armenia’s to wholly support this mobilization effort in order to counter Aliyev’s secretive and anti-Armenian agenda. We also call on all public and political organizations to bring their share of leadership in condemning Aliyev’s anti-Armenian efforts.
During the last decade–many freedom fighters have shed their blood on the soil of Artsakh in order to free the Armenian nation’s historic homeland–and now it is every Armenian American’s duty to protect this homeland and not allow individuals such as Aliyev to diminish and dishonor their sacrifice.
We remain assured that the Armenian American community will indeed stand up for justice and make sure that the US government is fully aware of our concerns–and hence bring our modest participation in the liberation struggle of Artsakh. Armenian Revolutionary Federation Central Committee-Western US
