LOS ANGELES–A delegation representing the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Western US Central Committee visited the newly appointed Consul General of Armenia to Los Angeles Armen Liloyan, congratulating him on his recent appointment and welcoming him to the Western region. Liloyan was joined by Consul Harutiun Gojoyan. The Central Committee delegation, which was comprised of chairman Avedik Izmirlian and members Karo Khanjian and John Kossakian offered the ARF family’s heartfelt congratulations to Liloyan and pledged the party’s support to Consular activities. At Liloyan’s request, the ARF delegation briefed the Consul General on the activities of the party and its affiliate organizations. The delegation stressed the assistance provided by the Los Angeles community to Armenia and discussed the sister-city program. A special emphasis was placed on the California-Armenia Trade Office and the role of that entity in advancing economic relations in Armenia. Anti-Armenian propaganda by the Los Angeles Turkish and Azeri consulates was also discussed, with the ARF delegation briefing the Consul General on efforts by the Armenian community and the ARF to counter those efforts. Liloyan stressed the need for a new headquarters to better serve the community in Los Angeles, as well as to advance consular activities in the area. The delegation also stressed the need for more frequent communication by the consulate with the community. At the conclusion of the more than one hour meeting, the ARF delegation invited the Consul General to visit its "Peshekerian" center, in order to become better acquainted with the ARF’s activities.
