YEREVAN (Yerevan News Agency)–A conference of representatives of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation concluded Wednesday evening at the "Simon Vratsian" Center in the nation’s capital.
The meeting–which was attended by representatives from all ARF regions in Armenia and the Diaspora–focused on three main issues: the discussion and analysis of new developmen’s regarding the Karabakh peace process–and ensuring that the Karabakh conflict resolution does not require territorial concession from Karabakh. The development of closer organizational ties between ARF bodies in Armenia and the Diaspora and the upcoming parliamentary elections–which could strengthen Armenia’s commitment to rule of law and democracy were the two other main focuses of the conference.
In discussing Armenia-Diaspora relations–the meeting addressed the organizational role in the Hayastan All-Armenia Fund activities.
The meeting concluded that posturing and approaches of the previous regime vis–vis the Diaspora–played a negative role in encouraging for internal calm and bringing together the various elemen’s of Diasporan communities.
However–the meeting concluded–positive changes had been observed in the effort to bring together the various elemen’s of communities. Thus–the meeting resolved that a new policy parameters should be created–based on which the party could direct its activities.
In conclusion the meeting stressed the importance of strengthening the Armenian and Karabakh states and viewed the upcoming parliamentary election as the best testing ground for formulating a legislature through democratic norms and free elections.
The conference pledged its solidarity to the ARF Executive Council of Armenia and its activities in the homeland–in the name of the parliamentary elections which can become a true expression of the free will of the Armenian people.
