YEREVAN–The ARF Executive Council of Armenia announced that Executive Council representative Armen Rostamian as well as EC members Eduard Ghazarian and Gekham Manukian met with British Ambassador to Armenia–Timothy Marshal Jones–on Thursday. They discussed the recent terrorist threats as well as the various measures used to fight them. The Ambassador presented the EC representatives with the latest developmen’s in the struggle against the terrorism.
Rostamian expressed his anxiety toward Azerbaijan–because of its attempts to take advantage of the current political situation. He pointed out that by falsifying the origin of the regional issues–the Azeri government is attempting to justify its intentions to resume military actions in Nagorno-Karabakh. Rostamian also mentioned that the policy adopted by Azerbaijan–disguised under the veil of "anti-terrorist struggle," is increasing tension within the region. Azerbaijan’s actions must not be tolerated–especially considering the proven Azeri ties with Osama bin Laden’s international terrorist network.
During the meeting–both parties agreed that it was not acceptable to take advantage of the current situation by trying to resolve the Karabakh conflict with the use of force instead of peaceful negotiations.
Upon the request of the ARF representatives. Ambassador Jones provided them with evidence regarding the current anti-terrorist struggle campaign.
The meeting also discussed several issues regarding the relations between ARF and British Labor Party.
