YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–At a briefing held December 7–head of the Hayastan deputy group Myasnik Malkhassian said that the 2001 budget will focus on last year’s debt repayment. He does not think the sums expected from the arrangemen’s of the celebration of the 1700th anniversary of Christianity in Armenia will contribute.
Member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation parliamentary faction Vahan Hovhannissian said he has no confidence in the budget. According to him–the faction will demand an increase in budget allocations for disaster zone reconstruction projects–which has been drafted at 3.5 billion drams. At the same time–Hovhannissian did not exclude the possibility that the faction would vote against the budget.
