GLENDALE–The Western US Central Committee of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation issued an announcement Thursday regarding the upcoming visit to Los Angeles by Azeri President Haydar Aliyev–scheduled for late April. The announcement urges the community to actively take part in protesting the Azeri leader’s visit to LA.
Below is the translated text of that resolution.
Azeri president Haydar Aliyev will visit Los Angeles from April 27 to 28 to take part in the third annual meeting of the US-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce.
With his anti-Armenian political posturing and the policies against the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic–especially his most recent threats to use military force to stifle the population Karabakh–have made Haydar Aliyev the main abuser of the rights of the people of Karabakh. In the same vein–in cooperation with Turkey–Haydar Aliyev continues to blockade Armenia and Karabakh–and by using international oil companies–he aims to politically isolate the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic.
We are confident that during Haydar Aliyev’s visit to this region–the Armenian community of Los Angeles–where refugees from Karabakh–Sumgait–and Baku have settled–will raise their fists in protest and ensure that this latest Azeri threat will fail.
Thus–the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Western US Central Committee has decided to organize community-wide demonstrations in order to make the Armenian voice audible to businesses and other entities with interests in Azerbaijan.
We call on the Armenian people to participate in all events of protests–in order to further heighten Armenian deman’s.
We are confident that our appeal will garner your unequivocal support and the Armenian people–thousands of miles away from Armenia and Karabakh–will make it clear to Aliyev and his sponsors that Armenia’s are committed to their position and no one can steal Karabakh from Armenia’s.
