PASADENA–Over two thousand members of the community filled the Sexon Auditorium of Pasadena City College on Sunday–December 3 to participate in the program dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation.
Opening remarks were made by Saro Nazarian. ARF Western Region Central Committee Representative Viken Yacoubian presented the Cental Committee’s platform. Chris Guldjian spoke on behalf of the Armenian Youth Federation–as well as Executive Director of the Armenian National Committee Western Region–Alex Sardar. The struggles which have characterized modern Armenian history–and the role of the ARF in defending the rights of the Armenan nation were addressed objectively by all speakers. ARF Bureau Representative Hrant Markarian stressed the ARF’s role in upholding ethics and principles important to the Armenian people.
A cultural program followed featuring a video presentation on the recent Armenian Genocide resolution efforts in Congress–and a recital of poetry by Milen Hayriyan. Renowned singers Rouben Hakhvertian–Hovig Krikorian–Nersik Ispirian–and Karnig Sarkissian performed popular and patriotic songs. The ceremony was opened by the Homenetmen Pasadena "Azadamard" chapter saluting the flags of Armenia–the United States–and the ARF. The national anthems were sung by Hovig Krikorian.
