YEREVAN (ARF Press Service)–The Fifth Executive meeting (Regional Convention) of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation of Armenia concluded its activities Tuesday.
The meeting discussed and assessed the ARF’s activities during the last two years and elaborated the strategy of the party’s activities in all spheres for the upcoming two years.
The meeting adopted two statemen’s–the first regarding the political and socio-economic situation in the country and the other–on the removal of the resolution on the Armenian Genocide from the agenda of the United States Congress.
The ARF of Armenia 5th Executive meeting made the following statement regarding the removal of the Genocide Resolution from the agenda of the 106th Congress:
"When the government of the US–who is a leader in the fight for human rights and prides itself on its humanitarian principles refuses to consider the Armenian Genocide–it subjects itself to a double standard."
"At the same time–the threats and staunch opposition raised by today’s Turkish government against the adoption of a resolution on the Armenian Genocide shows that today’s Turkish government becomes the inheritor of the Ottoman Empire that perpetrated the Genocide."
"The fifth Executive Meeting of the ARF of Armenia highly commen’s the principled stand the people of the United States take in regards to human rights–and hopes that someday the US government will listen to the collective voice of its people and condemn the Genocide perpetrated by Turkey as a crime against all humanity."
The fifth Executive meeting of the ARF of Armenia announced that:
Every effort will be taken to improve the socio-economic situation in Armenia–to improve employment–and to increase productivity in Armenia.
The ARF through its political and legislative means will be an active participant in ensuring that corruption in government and Parliamentary procedures will be eliminated.
The ARF will commit itself in working together with the other political parties in Armenia in order to ensure improvement in the political and legislative process.
Simultaneously–the ARF 5th Executive meeting reaffirms its commitment to the liberation and independence movement in Karabakh–and its dedication to the resolution of the Armenian Question..
At the conclusion of the meeting–the new ARF Executive Council of Armenia was elected. At its first meeting the ARF Executive Council elected Armen Rustamian as its representative.
