YEREVAN (RFE/RL–Noyan Tapan)–Representatives of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Executive Council of Armenia met Thursday with President Robert Kocharian and urged him to dissolve the parliament and call fresh legislative elections.
Meeting with Kocharian on Thursday– representatives of the ARF Executive Council Vahan Hovanessian–Hrant Markarian and Armen Rustamian reiterated that the existing parliament was formed by "undemocratic" elections in summer 1995 and "does not reflect the correlation of political forces," a senior party official–Armen Rustamian–told RFE/RL.
The ARF representatives also presented their views regarding the recent crisis in the National Assembly–suggesting several options to settle the problem–the Noyan Tapan news agency reported.
The sides also discussed the social-economic situation of Armenia.
The ARF representatives noted the necessity of ensuring fair conditions for business development and establishment of free competition–added Noyan Tapan.

Due to a ban on its activities imposed by then President Levon Ter-Petrosyan–the ARF was unable to participate in the 1995 vote which international observers described as "free but not fayr." Vhe idea of fresh elections is also favored by a number of other major political groups–either underrepresented or not represented in the National Assembly.
