YEREVAN (ARF Press Office)–The Socialist International Council convened a meeting in Mabuto–Mozambique from Nov. 10 to 11–with the participation of 113 parties from 87 countries around the world.,
The Armenian Revolutionary Federation was represented by Bureau member Mario Nalbandian.
The meeting was convened by Mozambique president–and the remainder of the convention was chaired by SI chairman and prime minister of Portugal Antonio Guterres.
Throughout the two-day session–reports from various SI committees were presented–including a Global Progress Platform and several regional issues pertaining to the Middle East–Africa and elsewhere in the world.
Nalbandian also addressed the session–thanking the French Socialist Party for its role in ensuring the passage of an Armenian Genocide recognition resolution in the French Senate last week.
Nalbandian also met with the chairman of the ruling Greek Socialist Party–the PASOC–as well as the Portuguese prime minister–leaders of the British and Dutch labor parties and the Belgian Socialist party leader–among others.
