YEREVAN (YERKIR)–As a member of the child and youth rights advocacy group International Falcon Movement of the Socialist Educational International (IFM-SEI)–ARF youth participated in a seminar held in Taxon Hungary October 12-19 on how to develop youth organizations.
Socialist youth from Latvia–Russia–Spain–England and other European countries took part in the seminar–while Armenia’s ARF Nigol Aghbalian Student Association–was the only participant from the South Caucasus.
The seminar allowed youth to meet with political leadership–exchange views–review modern methods of developing youth movemen’s–and discuss youth involvement in government.
The Socialist Educational International was founded in 1922 with international socialist children’s organizations as affiliates; the social-democratic organization aims to establish mutual understanding–social responsibility–and educate youth with democratic values in mind.
The IFM-SEI reaches out to member organization by it coordinating seminars–camps–symposia–and conferences to develop modern methods of socialist education.
The SEA almost ceased to exist in 1934 because of suppression of the socialist children’s movement in Germany and other countries; in 1947 the organization was re-established as the International Falcon Movement.
