YEREVAN (Yerevan News Service)–Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s spokesperson Levon Zourabyan told a news conference Wednesday that Armenia was in agreement with the announcement issued by the presidents of the US–France and Russia on the political resolution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Zourabyan stated that Armenia wanted a negotiated peace involving the sides to the conflict and added that Armenia would continue its constructive participation in the talks under the auspices of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe’s Minsk Group chairmen.
Zourabyan also added that Armenia and Karabakh had already submitted their responses to the co-chairman on the most recent Minsk Group proposal which aims to place Karabakh under Azeri rule and calls for the withdrawal of Karabakh forces from the so-called "occupied territories," Lachin and Shoushi.
The spokesperson also stated that he was unaware of Azerbaijan’s response to the Minsk Group proposal–stressing the importance of maintaining confidentially for the successful fruition of the peace process.
He stated that leaks which have been made only hinder the peace talks and were completely baseless–thus not warranting any confirmation or retraction.
In responding to reporter inquiries–Zourabyan stated that there was no set deadline for continuing talks between authorities and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Bureau.
