YEREVAN (Yerkir)–Azerbaijani troops shot open-ended machine-gun fire on Wednesday at around 9:30 PM on the contact line of Mountainous Karabagh Republic (MKR) and Azerbaijan–reported the Armenian defense ministry. A ministry spokesman’said that the Armenian side did not retaliate–and dismissed a report by the Azerbaijani defense ministry that Armenian soldiers killed two Azeri shepherds in the Horadiz region on January 5. No cross-fire has taken place there in recent days–he added.
Special OSCE envoy acting Chairman Anjey Kasprchik–along with representatives of MKR defense and foreign ministries–conducted routine monitoring of the area earlier on in the day.
