GLENDALE–Armenia Fund–Inc. is pleased to announce the formation of its new Executive Board. Archbishop Vatche Hovsepian and Bishop Moushegh Mardirossian–Co-Chairs; Father Raphael Minassian and Reverend Joseph Matossian will remain as ex-officio members. The new Executive Committee headed by Zaven Khanjian (President)–Hratch Simonian (Vice-President)–Parsegh Kartalian (Secretary)–Thomas Yeterian (Treasurer)–members Anahid Sarian–Ara Aroyan–Vahe Bahadrian–Hrair Balian–Dr. Harout Yaghsezian–Deacon Allan Yeghia Jendian (Fresno)–Sarkis Srabian (Sanger)–Khajag Sarkissian (San Fransisco)–Joseph Matossian (Berkeley)–will serve until February 2001. AFI would like to express its sincere appreciation to the retiring members Talin Yacoubian–Esq.–Vartan Nazerian and Aram Alajajian for their hard work–dedication and tireless efforts on behalf of the fund.
Presently–the Board is reviewing and discussing plan and projects to be implemented during its tenure. Shortly–AFI will hold a press conference to formally introduce the new Board–as well as outline its plan for future activities–including the Telethon 2000 scheduled for Thanksgiving Day–November 23–2000. Details and specifics will be announced shortly.
Currently–the firm of Parks–Palmer–Turner and Yemenidjian is completing the financial audits for the calendar years 1998 and 1999. In keeping its commitment of "open records" to the community–the report will be made available to the press and public as soon as possible.
Armenia Fund–Inc. is the West Coast affiliate of the Hayastan All Armenian Fund headquartered in Yerevan–Armenia. It is a non-profit corporation. Over the last three years the Fund generated over $17 million to help build the Goris-Stepanakert Highway–water distribution project for Shoushi–the North-South backbone Highway and other humanitarian needs.
