YEREVAN (Armenpress/Yerkir)–Representatives from worldwide Armenian National Committees (ANC) as well as affiliate organizations, kicked off the second ANC conference in Yerevan on March 12. With 85 representatives from 28 countries, the conference seeks to formulate ANC strategy in light of geopolitical trends, developmen’s, and Armenia’s domestic and foreign policy priorities. In his opening remarks, National Assembly deputy speaker and ARF Bureau member Vahan Hovhannisian said the struggle for justice via the Armenian Cause is ARF’s greatest political success. "It is an ideology calling for the creation of a free, independent and united Armenia. The word "united" presupposes claims on 80 percent of our historical homeland, which is now situated in East Turkey and cleansed of Armenia’s as a result of the 1915 genocide. But the immediate goal of the Armenian Cause is to achieve international recognition of the 1915 genocide." He stressed that while many were distant from this cause in earlier days, it has become a large-scale movement, nevertheless. "Many did not want to join our struggle; others joined later and many others are joining now. The struggle is mounting–offering a clear vision of the objectives to be attained."
