YEREVAN–April 16 (Noyan Tapan)–Prime Minister Armen Darbinian met on Thursday with the Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Hamidreza Nikkar Esfahani. The two discussed issues pertaining to tripartite Armenia-Iran-Greece cooperation–as well as problems related to the construction of the Kajaran tunnel–the Agarak section of the railroad–and Iran-Armenia gas and oil pipelines. It was said that design works on Iran-Armenia gas pipeline will be finished this year.
Darbinian stressed that the geopolitical location of the two countries creates favorable conditions for mutually beneficial cooperation and formation of regional center of transit transportation.
Esfahani gave Darbinian a message of congratulation from the First Vice President of Iran Dr. Hassan Habibi. He also highlighted the importance of traditional cultural relations between the two nations.
"The necessity of close cooperation between our countries is conditioned by the geopolitical situation in the region," the Ambassador said.
